While cover plates and housings have received widespread attention, composite materials also play an important role in internal electronic devices. For example, South Korea's Samsung Galaxy Note9 uses a water-carbon cooling system, which is said to make the phone run more smoothly when used in large quantities. According to Samsung's introduction, the cooling system contains a heat pipe or "radiator", and the phase change of the water can effectively dissipate heat. First, the porous structure filled with water absorbs heat, then the water turns into steam and moves through the pipes. When the steam begins to cool and turns back into water, the process begins again. Galaxy Note9 has a larger heat pipe than its previous models. It benefits from a better carbon fiber TIM (thermal interface material), which is said to be able to transfer heat from the processor to the radiator with 3.5 times higher efficiency. Improves thermal conductivity and helps prevent overheating.
Composite materials are also increasingly used in audio-visual equipment. For example, Teijin’s Seerebo carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic is used to make several Panasonic’s digital 4K camera bodies; the Dutch company Refitech recently introduced audio-visual equipment and Ultra-compact composite telescopic tube for similar purposes.
