Royal Has koning DHV, DSM and the City of Rotterdam have announced their intention to collaborate on the design and construction of a new circular composite footbridge, which will be installed in Rotterdam. Rotterdam is a vibrant and innovative city. It is at the forefront of using composite bridges to support the city to achieve recycling and sustainable development. Arnite grades include polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). This footbridge is composed of glass-filled thermoplastic PET (Ar nite) combined with continuous glass fibers and added during the 3D printing process. This unique combination provides high strength, extreme versatility and sustainability.

The pedestrian bridge will be developed in strict accordance with the highest safety standards for fiber-reinforced plastic bridge design. Experts in the infrastructure of composite bridges in Rotterdam will be closely involved in the design and construction process.
The sensor can also be installed on a pedestrian bridge to build a digital twin bridge. These sensors can predict and optimize maintenance, ensure the safety of the bridge, and extend the service life of the bridge. It is estimated that this pedestrian bridge will be completed and put into use by the end of 2020.
